Why does Histoacryl Topical Skin Adhesive need to be kept refrigerated for long-term storage?
While Histoacryl Topical Skin Adhesive can be kept at room temperature over the short- term, long-term refrigeration is necessary due to the ready-to-use properties of Histoacryl. As a result of the ready-to-use properties of Histoacryl and unlike other skin adhesives, our ampoule tip will not clog and the entire .5mL of adhesive may be used.
Is TissueSeal available to handle questions or concerns regarding Histoacryl 24 hours per day?
Yes. TissueSeal maintains a 24 hour help line, 7 days per week in order to promptly respond to our customers. We can be reached at 877-SKINGLUE/877-754-6458.
Why is only a single layer of Histoacryl required to close a wound while other skin adhesives require 2 or 3 layers of adhesive to close a wound?
Histoacryl® does not use stabilizers and is the purest FDA approved medical grade cyanoacrylate adhesive on the market with the greatest tensile strength. As a result, additional layers of adhesive are not necessary to achieve a full strength bond.
Are there other FDA approved topical skin adhesives?
Histoacryl is one of only three Class III topical skin adhesives approved by the FDA.
